Learn to Relax
Often, we need to remind ourselves to take time out of our busy schedules to relax. Even if we find time to relax, it’s hard to clear our minds from stressful thoughts. Setting aside just 10 to 20 minutes per day for relaxation practice can help you to reduce everyday stress levels, anxiety, and muscle tension. As you learn to better manage stress, you’ll see an improvement in your mood, energy levels, and focus. The National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) is a good starting point for learning more about the signs, symptoms, and treatments of depression.
Importantly, NIMH can help you get help. If you’re unsure where to go for help – talk to someone you trust who has experience in mental health, like a doctor, nurse, or clergy member. NIMH provides more information about the types of people and places that will make a referral to, or provide, diagnostic and treatment services.
